Droupadi Murmu has been sworn in to become the President of India on 25 July. She was the candidate of NDA in Presidential Election 2022. Murmu has become the 15th President of India and has created history by becoming the first person from the tribal community to hold this office. She has also become the second woman to become the President of India after Pratibha Patil.

During the swearing-in ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu said, “Standing in Parliament – a symbol of the expectations, aspirations and rights of all Indians – I humbly express my gratitude to all of you. Your trust and support will be a great force for me to take up this new responsibility.”

Newly-appointed President Murmu said, “My election to this post is not only my own achievement, but the achievement of every poor in the country.” He further said that his election is a reflection of the trust of crores of Indians.
Chief Justice administered the oath to Droupadi Murmu
Outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind and Murmu arrive in Parliament ahead of the oath-taking ceremony. Murmu was escorted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice President and Chairman of Rajya Sabha M Venkaiah Naidu and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to the central hall.The oath taken by President Droupadi Murmu was administered by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana in the Central Hall of Parliament in the presence of notable leaders such as former President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Narendra Modi and VP Venkaiah Naidu.
Congratulating Droupadi Murmu on becoming the new President of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said, “Smt Droupadi Murmu ji was sworn in as the President of India, the whole nation watched with pride. It is a historic moment for him to assume the presidency. For India in particular for the poor, marginalized and downtrodden. I wish him a fruitful presidential term.”
